What is a drill bit?
A drill bit is basically what cuts into the rock while drilling an oil or gas well. The drill bit is a rotating apparatus, which comprises of two or three cones which are made up of the hardest materials and consist of sharp teeth that help to cut the rock and the hard sediments below.
The drill bit is placed at the tip of the drill string which is below the drill collar and the drill pipe and is continuously rotating whenever in use.
Uses of drill bit:

The invention of the Oil drill bit:
Initially curated by Howard Hughes, the wastebasket-size piece of equipment cost $3,500 and weighed 78 pounds. This oil drilling bit can turn up to a hundred times per minute. It is also known as a tricone rotary rock drill bit and is used to drill oil wells. As they faced trouble in getting holes through tough underground rock formations because the drill-bit used earlier was a plain flat edged piece of metal called a fishtail. He then began experimenting with creating a new drill bit consisting of rotating steel cones that could pulverize the rock and not wear off quickly.
